Tierra Polite has many accomplishments under her belt. This Charleston, South Carolina native has taught many aspiring stylists in her private classes and mentored many successful stylists over the years. She has also taught countless continuing education and business courses. Her salon, Epiphany Hair Studio, was established in October 2012.

Can you tell us a bit about your business?
Tierra: I am currently the owner of Epiphany Hair Studio, a beauty salon located in North Charleston, SC. I opened that business in 2012. I am also a licensed realtor in SC with Excel Real Estate. I am currently in the process of opening Epiphany Beauty Institute, a beauty school in Summerville, SC
What accomplishments are you the proudest of?
Tierra: My greatest accomplishment will always be being a single mother first to my two boys. The second would be beating all odds that were against me.
Tell us about your journey of getting where you are today.
Tierra: The journey wasn’t easy. I prayed and sacrificed a whole lot to get where I’m at. Losing my mother at 15 and then my grandparents and father didn’t make things easier. I understand life, so I’m able to kind of get through my trials and tribulations. There were times I thought I wouldn’t make it, but I always hold on to God’s unchanging promises. Simple life principles work for me. I am definitely reaping the harvest of seeds I have sown my entire life.
How is your business differentiated from others that are in your industry?
Tierra: I really can’t say my business is different from others in the industry. I just know that it was God’s plan for my business. Even though the ultimate goal in business is profit, I wholeheartedly feel that God used me and my business to be a blessing to others. Over the years, I have helped many people. I also stand on integrity no matter what happens or what people may say.
What obstacles did you face and how did you overcome them?
Tierra: I faced obstacles that every other person in business has faced. I had moments of doubt, times when I made less money, and times when I made lots of money. But because hair is my passion, I held on through it all. I pray a lot and I listen to hear confirmation from God. My crazy faith helps me overcome everything.
What are your current goals?
Tierra: My current goals right now are to finish opening my beauty school and invest more money to prepare for retirement and my kid’s future.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Tierra: In the next 5 years, I see myself very wealthy and definitely changing lives worldwide. How? I don’t know. I leave that up to God.
