Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your Spring-Summer 2024 Sandstorm Collection and how it reflects the essence of Miami Beach culture?

When I conceived our latest collection, I looked toward our home city of Miami as a main inspiration. There’s a vibrantly diverse mix of cultures here that’s so rich with art, music, and architecture with roots in the traditions of the American South, Cuba, and the tropics. The Sandstorm collection focuses specifically on our beach culture, exuding the colorful fun of the locals and the millions of tourists who come to bask in the sun and sand.

Sustainability is a key focus of Megan Mae Miami. How do you integrate eco-friendly practices into both the design and manufacturing processes of your swimwear line?

Sustainability is at the forefront of Megan Mae Miami’s ethos. From both design and manufacturing processes, we are committed to integrating eco-friendly practices by using recycled materials, minimizing waste, and reducing our environmental footprint. We are constantly assessing what we use and how we conduct our production so that we produce at the highest level of sustainability to preserve our planet and its future.

The use of recycled poly and EcoNyl in your latest collection is notable. Could you elaborate on how these materials contribute to your commitment to preserving the ocean and why this is important to you?

We spend a great deal of time and effort to really source our materials. We decided to go with EcoNyl since it’s derived from materials like discarded nets that are dangerous to countless maritime life. We are determined to support efforts to reduce plastic waste while also maintaining the highest quality standards for our swimwear. Preserving the ocean is essential to us because it’s not just a source of inspiration but also a vital ecosystem we must protect for coming generations.

The Blissful and Charisma pieces from your collection seem to blend sexiness with sophistication. What was your vision behind these designs, and how do they align with the brand’s ethos?

Each piece I design is meant to empower women. We want our customers to be confident and own their personal sense of style. From the choices of color to the flattering cuts, we want the items to be elegant yet sexy. The combination of our luxurious fabrics with the intricate details gives them a timeless allure that resonates with our audience.

Megan Mae Miami is described as a fashion-forward alternative to conventional swimwear. How do you balance staying ahead of trends while maintaining a timeless appeal in your designs?

From the outset, one of our intentions was to stand apart from the mostly generic swimwear that relies on the same colors and cuts every season. But it is a delicate balance of creating fashion-forward looks while maintaining timeless appeal. So, I always look at where the market is headed, what our customers look for, and what the industry itself is doing in order to stay ahead of trends. We never follow fads but give greater emphasis on innovation, transparency, and circularity.

With sustainability becoming increasingly important in the fashion industry, how do you see the future of eco-friendly fashion evolving, and what role do you envision Megan Mae Miami playing in this evolution?

Megan Mae Miami aims to lead this evolution by continuously researching and implementing cutting-edge sustainable practices. We are always influenced by innovations in the realm of sustainability. We envision new ways of expanding our range of eco-friendly materials to drive positive change that we hope will be a standard bearer for the industry.

Your brand emphasizes modern sensibilities in design. How do you stay connected to your target audience and ensure your designs resonate with them in a rapidly changing fashion landscape?

We make every effort to encourage feedback from our loyal customers. We listen to what they like, the styles they respond to, and what they are looking for to fit their lifestyles. We stay connected to them from the emails they send us and actively engage with them on social media. We also conduct market research to understand their evolving preferences. By staying adaptable and responsive, we ensure that our designs resonate with their needs and desires in today’s fast-paced fashion landscape.

We have some truly exciting upcoming things from Megan Mae Miami. We’re exploring some wonderful collaborations with eco-conscious influencers, pop-up events showcasing our sustainable initiatives, and fashion shows including the iconic Miami Swim Week.
