Hundreds of Trump supporters managed to storm the building during the Electoral College certification process, which forced an evacuation of the nation’s lawmakers. “Capitol Hill was placed on lockdown, with Vice President Mike Pence rushed from the Senate chamber by security,” according to thewrap.com. Four people died, and suspicious devices were allegedly discovered at the Republican National Committee headquarters.

According to Forbes.com, just 52 people were arrested in Washington D.C. after pro-Trump protestors stormed the U.S. Capitol and interrupted Congress certifying President-elect Biden’s win. That number is small in comparison to the arrests made during protests for racial justice following the killing of George Floyd while in police custody and the shooting of Breonna Taylor as she was in her own home. For those who were demanding justice with BLM, hundreds of people were arrested for unrest-related offenses, tear-gassed, and attacked with rubber bullets.
