Buffalo, NY Rock Band Swill Deliver 4th Full-Length Album ‘Turn The Lights Back On’

Buffalo, NY-based rock band Swill releases their 4th full-length album titled ‘Turn The Lights Back On’ with three accompanying videos. Swill’s ability to push their songwriting without putting limits on what they say is construed throughout the album. Audiences will get a taste of different arrangements and melodies meshed for the ultimate rush, from rock and classic rock to pop and punk, and to blues and folk. The band is made up of Scott Kent and Scott Baroniecki on guitar, Mike Copp on bass, Galen Kogut on vocals, and Michael Polojac on drums. Immediately after pressing play on the 11-track album, listeners will grip the band’s unmatched chemistry.

Turn The Lights Back On (watch the video below) begins the album with smooth piano keys that quickly transform into heavy guitar strumming and drums. To create or be part of a new world, we must first turn the lights back. We need open hearts and to accept that family is everyone we meet, regardless of ethnicity, environment, or lifestyle.

Heavens Getting Crowded (watch the video below), although delivered with upbeat melodies and instruments, touches on life after someone dear has passed. The record describes a vivid dream of being next to that someone at the foot of the bed and speaking with them. But what happens when memories begin to fade?

A Fable (watch the video below) hits home for every human. Why do we allow fables and fairytales along with mystic creatures and sci-fi warriors to control our minds and how we move in the world? Galen mentions children who are lost at the seams, women preying on their next meal (men), and headless men drifting to the promised land. The dilemma is feeding into the fables while we fall down trapped rabbit holes.

In Better Off, we get a sense of what could be a volatile relationship. One is saying how better off they would be, over and over and over, until they believe it’s true, while the other is switching up masks…not just pandemic masks. Rise Up serves as an empowering record. No matter how discouraged we might feel or how many times we go around and around expecting different results, our life will not always be a wildfire blazing out of control. The only way not to let b*astards kick you down and leave you down is by rising up and standing your ground.

Strange addiction is another record that feeds into desires and pleasures and how it quickly turns into an addiction, even for those hiding behind their white picket fence in the burbs. Those are the ones who step into that realm of exploration. Take heed though, addictions can and will eat at your soul and take away any self-control.

In Can’t, Galen expresses being torn. He wants to sleep next to her and feel her breath but he knows he can’t go back there. In life, so much time passes by and we don’t always get to say our goodbyes. For Galen, this leaves him with memories of seeing her and tasting her. Out Of Reach is about wasting time on someone who doesn’t want time spent. When her name is called she runs away, when her phone rings she hangs up. But day after day he presses repeat. Don’t Wanna Know is a record to be played when you want to flip the world off and be alone. Day after day and night after night, going away so others can’t hear the complaints.

The Contract is a song that somewhat piggybacks on Fable. In this world, a plethora of people are raised on the belief of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and do to others as they do to you. We are told to act this way all while we follow the good book, which for some leads to crossroads.

Angels Cry is the album’s finale and serves as another empowering record. An angel sits sobbing while she attempts to get her wings. She admits to wrongdoing as well as being accused of crimes. She comes across a soul who reminds her that it’s our trials and tribulations in life that allows us to pass any test.

Overall, Swill delivers an album sharing their insight and their perspectives on life, relationships, death, and morals. The instruments flow differently for each track to heighten the message and emotions. Audiences will experience moments of intensity, moments of feeling upbeat, moments of bold clarity, and moments of self-reflection. Stream the album and connect with Swill below.
