Witnesses Sought in the Fatal Shooting of Migos Rapper Takeoff

The popular rap star who shot to fame as one of the members of the Grammy-nominated group Migos has been killed in a shooting. Kirshnik Khari Ball, aka Takeoff, was just 28 years old when he was gunned down at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas on Tuesday morning. Houston police are searching for witnesses in the fatal shooting.

At a news conference, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said “I ask you one thing, and I want this to resonate with everybody: What if it was your brother? What if it was your son?” Dinner continued, “You would want somebody to step up. So please step up and get the information to us so we can bring some closure to this family that is hurting.”

In the emergency audio obtained by TMZ, dispatchers are heard discussing the incident and revealing that the initial person who called heard gunshots and people screaming. Also heard on the audio was that 5 shots were fired.

The fatal incident happened just after 2:30 am–when the police received a call about a man shot at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston. Quavo, who is also a member of the rap group, was also at the bowling alley, but he was unharmed. Two other people were shot and went to the hospital in their own private vehicles with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were told by employees that an argument happened after the party ended. A large group of people gathered outside of the building at the front door, which eventually led to the shooting.

Finner said, “At least 40 people were at the scene at the time of the shooting.”

Sgt. Michael Arrington with the police department’s homicide division said “A lot of people that were there fled the scene and did not stick around to give a statement.”

Migos rose to fame with their 2013 single, “Versace.” In 2016, their fame increased with their hit song “Bad and Boujee,” featuring fellow music artist Lil Uzi Vert. Takeoff and Quavo recently released their debut album, “Only Built for Infinity Links,” on October 7.
