She’s an creator of Redemption Images, award-winning filmmaker, producer, celebrity fashion stylist, writer, and activist against domestic violence. She has been a featured designer for Mercedes Benz, NYFW, LAFW, and Milan Fashion Week. Andrea Ward is taking over the film industry with 8 wins for her short film titled “Deception Street” inspired by true events. She has invested her time and energy in telling untold and authentic stories inspired by her lifetime experiences which inspired her to launch the program “Life After the Storm.”

As the niece of the legendary Billie Holiday, are you musically inclined as well?
Andrea Ward: No, not with music as far as singing, but writing yes.
How has being the niece of Billie Holiday influenced you?
Andrea: It’s been so amazing, not just for myself, but for my career as a black woman in a male dominated industry. With such an impactful influence, it has taught me to fight for what I want and believe in no matter how many rejections I may receive. Those rejections only fuel more power within me to receive more acceptances.
What are your favorite film genres?
Andrea: Horror, action, and thriller.
As far as the film industry, who are you the most inspired by?
Andrea: Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana, and Halle Berry.
What inspired you to change career paths from medicine to the entertainment industry?
Andrea: I wanted to make a difference in this world, however with medicine there are more responsibilities and you have other people’s lives in your hands. Taking on the weight of the world on my shoulders just seemed like it wasn’t for me and I felt that I have too much of a big heart for it. With entertainment, it presents many opportunities and platforms to spread awareness of domestic violence, suicide awareness, bullying, and many more social issues that often affect our communities.
As an activist in your community, what advice would you give both men and women about mental abuse?
Andrea: Tell someone about it especially if it’s resulting in physical harm. Seek therapy and find healthy ways to heal or cope with your past traumas.
Tell us about your program “Life After the Storm.”
Andrea: Life After the Storm is a program designed for victims of domestic violence. This program’s structure is to help heal from emotional abuse and physical abuse.
Tell us about your latest projects.
Andrea: “Fiend-The Awakening” is a supernatural thriller filled with live action and martial art. It stars TikTok superstar Eyeamki.
